CARLYLE LAKE:
Developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers for the purpose of flood control and recreation, Carlyle Lake encompasses 26,000 acres of water, approximately 10 miles long and 3 miles wide.
The lake provides excellent sailing with no obstructions, currents or tides. The winds in June are moderate, with the temperature highs in the 80’s and 90’s.
Carlyle Lake is one of the best inland sailing lakes in the country. It's a great racing venue and there's lots to do in the surrounding area.
Nationally known PRO Ted Beier and his race committee will manage the races. Ted was PRO for the 1998 and 2004 NACs held at CSA. Ted has also served as PRO at nationals for Lightnings, Snipes, 470s and E Scows.
CSA has all the equipment and boats needed for excellent and safe racing. The Fleet 83 team makes measuring quick and easy. Because the club grounds are adjacent to the lake, wind waiting is done on shore in the shade rather than on the water.
Although Carlyle Lake is in a rural setting, there are affordable motels within 20 minutes of the harbor. Boat and car parking is on site next to the harbor and security is provided by a full time harbormaster.
Camping is not permitted on CSA grounds, however it is available adjacent to the club in beautifully shaded Hazlet State Park. Hazlet State Park also offers cabins for rent. (Advanced reservations are suggested for both camping and cabins. Cabins should be reserved as soon as possible after January 15, 2012.)
