NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing
1.2 Mid Continent Lightning Regatta Sailing Instructions will apply.
2 ADVERTISING
Permitted advertising on boats shall be in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 subject to the restrictions of ILCA
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 Eligibility is defined by the International Lightning Class

4. FEES
The entry fee is: local boats $30.00 USD, visitors no charge. (a thank you to all the skippers that helped with the C of C)
5. SCHEDULE
5.1 Registration: Friday, April 23 2010, 1800 – 2000 hours
Saturday, April 24, 0900 - 1030 hours
5.2 Skippers meeting: Saturday, April 24, 2009, 1030 hours
5.3 Meals: Lunches can be ordered at registration. Cost is $6.00. Saturday evening dinner is at the American Legion, pay as
you go. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable.

6.0 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
7.0 BERTHING
Boats will be launched and retrieved by jib crane and will remain on their trailers in available
parking spaces when not in use.
8.0 VENUE
The
regatta will be held on
9.0 COURSES
Course WL - (Windward/Leeward). Twice around a windward/leeward course with a short
windward leg to finish. There will be an offset weather mark and a leeward gate

leeward with a short windward leg to finish.
Courses will always be sailed counter-clockwise, leaving marks to port.
The approximate compass course from the starting line to the weather mark will be displayed
from the Race Committee boat.
The starting line/finishing maybe above or below the marks of the course.
10 SCORING
Scoring will be in accordance with ISAF Appendix A Low Point System except as modified in this
section.
There will be one throw-out race unless less than six races are completed whereas all races
completed will be counted. Throw-out races will be considered for the purpose of breaking ties.
11 RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
Use of hand held VHF radios will be permitted for communication from the Race Committee to
competitors on channel 72. The Race Committee intends to use VHF radio to identify OCS (On
Course Side of the line) boats after starts and otherwise communicate with the fleet on the
water. Failure to receive a hail, for a hail to be made, the order of hails made, or receive other
communications to the fleet shall not be cause for redress. Other use of any communication
device is prohibited.
12. PRIZES - Trophies will be awarded.
13. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race.
The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or
death sustained in conjunction with or prior to during or after the regatta.
