Fleet meeting minutes March 19, 2005 Minutes for March Catamaran Fleet Meeting The meeting was called to order at 9:00 on 3-19-05 at the home of Tom and Mary Paoli by fleet captain, Al Bromley. There was discussion on spacing for the new winged boat row. Decided to space them 15’ apart, which will provide 14 spaces. The first 3 spots will not be usable this year as the grass is dead. Al provided a sample of a concrete paver the size of a brick, which he painted with the row and space number in black paint. He wants to partially bury these to identify the spots. Al will make the markers for Row P; Pat for row R and Shirley will do rows S & O. They need to be at CSA on April 9th for the grounds work party. Fleet captains were asked to police their fleets for any missing stickers, name on trailer tongue, etc. Al passed out a list of our race duty dates, 6 this year. The following people agreed to act as pros. May 15 - Dave Stahl, June 12 - Joe Kasperek, July 17 - Felicia Bamer, August 7 - Patrick Renschen, Mike Hill will take one of the remaining dates on either Sept. 25 or Oct. 9 and then we still need one more. There was a lot of discussion on why we have 6 dates. Dave Leimbach will bring this up at the Board meeting and hope for a change. Dave Bryant designed a new home page for the website, which will be up and running soon. We had a sneak preview of it and it is really cool. He would like us to watch it as he continues to get more of it done and let him know what we think. Pat O’Donnell will be putting out a new refined email list that we can use to cover the entire fleet. Saturday, April 23 will be the first day to put boats in the water and a social activity is planned, including a garage sale. There was a discussion of Saturday events for this year. The Luau will be in conjunction with 4th of July fireworks and the Championship Regatta in Flying Scots. Dave Leimbach will propose that the H 17’s challenge the Lightnings for the Doren Cup. He will present that at the Board of Director’s meeting. The next meeting will be April 16, at Al Bromley’s house. Respectfully, Shirley Allen Secretary Fleet meeting minutes Feb 12, 2005 Minutes for the February Catamaran Fleet meeting The meeting was called to order at 8:30 on 2-12-05 at the home of Mike & Kristin Hill, by our new fleet captain, Al Bromley. Tom Paoli will be the fleet captain of the Low Portsmith boats. Latham awarded trophies that were not picked up at the banquet, including the Heavy Hull award which went to Shirley Allen. Tom Paoli received the Contribution trophy and Mike Hill the sportsmanship. Dave Leimbach has served his 3-year term on the Board of Directors. He agreed to run again. As a fleet we agreed to nominate him. Only one other person is running so far - John Sepanski. At the next meeting we will arrange a campaign to make phone calls to get Dave elected. We agreed it was very important to have a cat sailor on the Board. John Woodworth will vacate another permanent position and it will be left vacant. Eventually, someone who has been an elected board member will fill that position. There was a Division 10 meeting at the Chicago Boat show, but we had no representation there. Joe Kasparak received an email regarding it. There was much discussion on where the fault lie, between Fleet 123 and Division 10, but probably both sides were negligent in communicating with each other. Al Bromley will contact the Division 10, person, Jeff Rabidoux. There was interest at the last meeting that the Muddy Water be held with the Area K regatta, however there is a conflict on the date with Area K. It was decided to just hold the Muddy on its date of Sept. 10/11 and not lose the date. The Area K can take place somewhere else. Dave L. and Pat O. will do the flyer for the regatta. Latham will put an ad in Cat Sailor for the Muddy and the Whale combined, with a budget of $100, in an effort to encourage out of towners to do both. Dave Stahl will talk to 470’s about having a regatta in conjunction with their fleet as we did several years ago. Dave Bryant, CSA web master, will set up an email address for our fleet on the website. Linda is the Whale Chair and will need to lean heavily on our fleet for help. Please keep that in mind. Treasurer’s report unavailable. Mike will collect fleet dues. On the April 9th work party, we will be putting stakes in for the 13’ wide Hobie 17 spots. Parking assignments will also be put on the website, where it will be easier to change them. We will be building a new bridge from the parking lot to the pavilion as it was washed away in the last flood. Mike showed a movie about the Tybee 500, which will take place May 8-13. There was a discussion on where to find funds. Several people had ideas that they will pursue. The fleet voted to donate $200 to Mike’s fund. Visit Mike’s website at www.stlouiscats.com. Both email addresses and US Postal addresses were updated. Report any changes or additions to email to Pat O’Donnell and US mail to Shirley Allen. Respectfully submitted, Shirley Allen
