Fleet meeting minutes Nov 13, 2004 Minutes of Fleet meeting 11-13-04 Meeting was called to order at 8:30 at the home of Pat O’Donnell. Minutes from the 3-04 meeting were read and approved.
Brock gave a treasurer’s report of about $2,300. We lost about $500 on the Muddy Water. It is the caterer and the hats that put us in the hole. It was discussed to either do our own cooking for the regatta or to attract more out-of-towners. We discussed combining the Area K with the Muddy. There could only be one massive start for everyone, as the Area K is a portsmith regatta. However, the scoring for the Muddy could be done by fleets. Mike Hill is the person who would have to approve this. And he did. Tom Paoli made the motion and Joe K. seconded it to combine the Area K and the Muddy. Passed 13 to 1. We have to get the word out on this. Moved and seconded that Dave L. is the regatta chair. It will be advertised in the Cat Sailor and Hobie Class magazine. In an effort to save money, we will barbeque our own food and Tom P. will play the guitar for entertainment.
Moved and seconded that Al Bromley be fleet captain and that Tom Paoli will be fleet captain for the low portsmith group. Also re-elected is Brock Tuffli for treasurer and Shirley Allen for secretary. Joe Kasperek was elected Marks scribe and Joe Leonard will collect scores for Mike Hill who will continue to do the scoring. Joe L. has a digital camera and he can photograph the race results. Also proposed and seconded is that the last 2 races of our regatta will be counted as club races and included in club results. This should increase the number of qualifiers for CSA races. Dues will be $15 for ‘05 and payable to Brock. (correction - payable to Fleet 123) The following people volunteered to head up our race committee duty dates: Mike Hill, Joe K., Latham, Felicia (yes, Felicia), Dave S. and Patrick. Dennis T. and Sue D. will be trained for the following year. Mike Hill would like to be sponsored for the TYBE 500. Felicia had new CSA shirts for sale at $25 and there are leftover regatta hats for $8. As there seems to be a lack of crew available, we decided it was better to sail a boat single-handed than to not sail at all. If you are doing this, be sure and let Mike Hill know, as the handicap number will change. Joe K. will list the cat fleet’s schedule of events in the Marks. The following fleet members have volunteered to host meetings: 12-04 Dave Leimbach, 2-05 Mike Hill, 3-05 Tom Paoli and 4-05 Joe and Mary Leonard. Respectfully, Shirley Allen Fleet meeting minutes March 20, 2004 March Minutes - March 20, 2004
Meeting was called to order at 8:45 at the home of Shirley Allen. Previous minutes were read and accepted. We are responsible for 5 race duty dates. Al Bromley had a duty date schedule. Patrick was chosen to do RC for the Whale. He was not present to accept this. Felicia offered to help train any one on the 2nd Sunday in May for "head race person". There will be a closed start/finish line this year. Pat O'Donnell will take care of cat website this year. Mike Hill will do scoring for high and low Portsmith, but we need to help him get scores if he is absent. The area of the cat field behind where Bob M., Tom P., and Dave S. park has been filled in to give us more parking space. We are not to park in this area for one year to let it settle and harden. We are also getting more sand for the beach and Tom Paoli will spread it. This year there will be no change for the wing boats, but next year we will have our own row spaced appropriately. Hopefully this year no one will have a winged boat on both sides of them. H 18's are asked to fold their wings up. Preston Haglin, Vice Commodore, attended the meeting also. He spoke about the new cabin boat parking. The parking lot has been reconfigured to make room for all the cabins on the list. Row N lost several feet and they won't be able to leave their car attached to the boat all day. The Lightenings agreed to move to L row. The San Juan's are to be considered cabin boats and one-design boats. Stars have asked to be removed from fleet status, which means they will not do race committee. The parking lot arrangement will be posted in the OB. Moonlight sails are planned for June 54 and 19 (Summer Sailstice) and July 31. Information is at Summer Sailstice.com, but roughly is being sponsored by West Marine. It is free, just sign up and they will donate $1 a boat to save islands around the world from erosion. The fall Halloween party will consist of the children's costume party and a square dance in the "barn" (pole building), including a caller and hay rides. During the work party on April 17 (our fleet meeting) we are encouraged to work on the cat field. We will be spray painting the tie downs with orange paint. Dave Leimbach has purchased a super duper nose wheel to use to bring boats on the cat field when the ground is soft. We are looking for Junior Sail Camp Instructors. John Sepanski will consider giving another class if there is interest. Mike Hill is again running for Board of Directors as his term is up. Be sure and read your instructions and vote for Mike to represent the cats. Shirley Allen
