Flying Scot Fleet #83
Scoring System for Club Races

Boats/skippers will be scored as they finish with:

1st place receives 1 point
2nd place 2 points
3rd place 3 points
      and so forth.

We will use the qualification of races as stated in the CSA handbook. Each boat's series score will be the total of only her race scores needed to qualify her for the series, discarding her worst scores. The boat with the lowest series score wins. Boats receiving a DNF for a given race in a series will be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of all boats that came to the starting area.

Tie-breaking rules:

When there is a tie between two or more boats in a series, the boat with the greatest number of first places will be awarded the higher position. If equal then the boat with the greatest number of second places, then third, then fourth and so on will be awarded the higher position. If the scores are still tied, then the result will be decided by which boat beat the other boat(s) in the last race of the series. If still tied, then the Fleet Captain win flip a coin and the oldest skipper will call the toss. If correct, they will be awarded the higher position.

Out-of-Town Regattas:

Skippers attending an out-of-town regatta will receive a score for the club races on that particular Sunday equal to their average score for that Series.

Fleet Champion Scoring:

The combined Spring, Summer and Fall Series race scores will be used to determine the Flying Scot Fleet Champion. Each boat’s score for Fleet Champion will be the total of her Spring, Summer and Fall series race scores needed to qualify her for the Championship, discarding her worst scores. We will use the qualification of races as stated in the CSA handbook. The boat/skipper with the lowest score will be designated the CSA Flying Scot Fleet Champion

Race Course for CSA Club Races:

The Flying Scot fleet will sail a WL course (2 laps) for the first race and an OM course for the second race. If there is a third race for a Holiday series, the Flying Scot Fleet will sail a WL course (1 lap unless changed by Race Committee).
