A regatta is a special boating race or a series of boat races to which
other clubs are invited to participate. Typically, each
individual fleet has its own regattas, whose scope may be a
district, region or national. There is generally one fleet national regatta each sailing season at CSA. Members
of other fleets often help with national regattas, i.e. providing race
committee.
Our yearly Fleet #83 regatta, the "Egyptian
Cup", attracts Scot sailors
from many mid-west clubs. In additional to
individual fleet regattas, CSA has one all-flight regatta, called the
"Whale of
a Sale". For the past few years, CSA has also sponsored
"Leukemia
Cup Regatta" as a fund raising event for Leukemia research. Check

Nationally, Flying Scot clubs are divided into districts, our
district being the Mid-West. (Il, In, Minn, Wisc). A district
governor is chosen at this regatta to represent the district for the
following season. Each fleet in the district has one representative for
conducting district meetings. Additionally, this person attends
the Governor's dinner meeting which is in a part of each district
regatta and NAC.
A popular regatta for sailing couples is the Wife-Husband Championship Regatta.
Carlyle Fleet #83 hosted the
Wife Husband at Carlyle Lake in

Each season, a
district regatta is held at one of the district clubs. A favorite
place for a regatta is the Ephraim Yacht Club, Ephraim, WI.
When last held there, travelling from Carlyle were: Clarks, Sullivans, Swans,
Pinkels, Guffeys, and Bilideaus. Special treatment was accorded to
our Carlyle group by Robert & Pat Burridge, who have a summer home
there.
The 2006 district regatta was be held in Minnesota. More on this year's
