Beginning May 1, club races are held each Sunday thru
October.
Although all classes of monohull boats at CSA race together, each fleet compete only with other
in their fleet. There are four starts, combining similar boats. Racing results are posted by the pavilion at after the
last race. Season results to date will also be posted on this web
site. The race course is set by the days race
chairperson and varied is location and length with the wind. The
course starts and ends at the committee boat, with large balloon buoys
marking the course. For safety purposes, at least one other motor boat
(whaler) is always present to help with running the race and assisting a
sailor who have a problem. The summer season is divided
into 3 division, Spring, Summer and Fall. Each of these divisions
are separately scored with winners announced for each division, and
cumulative scores kept to determine the overall season winner/s..
Trophies for the winner/s are awarded by CSA at the Commodore's Ball,
which is held in Jan. of the following year. The number of trophies
awarded to a fleet depends on the number of the fleet members who
qualified for the season. To qualify, you must sail at least 50% of all
races. The
detailing of the racing program can be found on the CSA website
at Racing
Program. All CSA races are sailed
under the current (2001-2004) ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, the
prescriptions of USSA, and applicable class rules except as amended by
these Sailing Instructions can be found at
Racing Rules.
ISAF is The International
Sailing Federation which is the World Governing Body for the Sport
of Sailing and USSA is the US
Sailing Association.
All members of the fleet will be encouraged to sign up for race
committee one or two times a season. Serving on the race committee
is an excellent way to better learn the rules of racing and pick up
pointers to improve your own sailing. One need not be a racer to
serve on the committee as the race chairperson will be sure that you
will be with others who are experienced. Additionally, one may be
asked to help on race duty for other fleet regatta as, we, in turn, will
ask other fleets to assist us. |
