Alex is having an experience of a
lifetime. He has met so many people from all over the world and is
learning Chinese and some Arabic too. Alex is living in Xiamen and going
to Xiamen University. It is on the coast on the South China Sea.
Tropical Climate. He says it is hot and humid and he has never sweat so
much! He only has air conditioning in his bedroom.
He has done a little traveling to Bejing and another city. I have attached pictures of him mowing the grass in the Forbidden City, the view of the ocean from his apartment, his living room with laundry hung out to dry, sand castle building on the beach and the Olympic village. He said apparently Chinese don’t build sand castles, he attracted quite a crowd. He has a washer but there are no dryers in China, so the living room is the clothes line. He found a sailing school on the coast with Opti’s teaching kids to sail. They also had surf sail boards and they let him take one out. The people running the school did not speak English and couldn’t give him any directions. He said it was very difficult. So he went home and looked up directions on the internet. I think he is going to go back and try again. He said the little sailing school reminded him of sail camp. |
