Can I borrow a cabin boat not registered
at CSA and race it if I am a member of CSA? Yes, if you can show proof
of insurance on the borrowed boat.
Can I race with a spinnaker? Yes,
if you are willing to take the PHRF corrected time penalty.
My boat does not have a PHRF number how
do I get one? We will assign you a number based on your boats
measurements.
What time will we start? The races
will start at 11 AM for the cabin boats
Do I have to register to be scored in the
racing program? Yes, because you starting time is based on your boats
PHRF numbers and the length of the race course.
How do I get a registration form?
An email registration form will be sent out to all CSA club members as well as
participants from other Carlyle yacht clubs.
Will I know my competitors start time?
Yes, you will be sent an email list of all the competing boats start times.
How will I know if my start timer or
watch is the same as everyone of my competitors? You can set you watch
to a GPS signal at the skippers meeting before each race.
What happens if I start early? You
must return to the start line and start on or after your assigned time. Your
start time will be general knowledge of every competitor and if 2 or more
fellow competitors acknowledge that you started early you will be
disqualified from the race. If you start early in 2 races you will be
disqualified from further CSA Hare and Hound racing.
What do I do if the wind dies? We
will establish a maximum time limit for the race program but you may quit at
any time. If the time limit for the race expires and no one has finished you
will receive your finishing score from the previous Hare and Hound race.
Who will score the finishing boats?
The first boat to finish will score the remaining boats up to the maximum time
allowance; you will be expected to carry a clipboard for this purpose. The
scores will be given to the race committee chairman or his designee after each
race.
What happens if some boats finish before
the maximum time allowance and others do not? The boats that finish will
be scored as they finished and all the remaining boats will be given a
finishing position based on the last boat to finish on time plus one position.
For instance, if three boats finish on time and the rest of the racers do not,
all the remaining boats will be given a 4th place. If we have a
tie, say one boat finishes and all the other boats would tie for second, who
will get the traveling trophy? The trophy would go to the boat that finished
the highest in the last Hare and Hound event.
Will the race be started if the wind is
not blowing at 11 AM? Yes, you will make the decision if you want to
compete or not.
Will the race be started if it’s blowing
like stink, or it looks like rain? Yes, you will make the decision if
you want to compete or not, the weather will not effect start times.
IF YOU RECEIVE A TRAVELING TROPHY YOU MUST
RETURN IT TO CSA PRIOR TO THE START OF THE NEXT SCHEDULED RACE.
