1715 - A great day of racing to watch unfold.  That concludes today's racing. Come back tomorrow to join the excitement again and watch as the racing continues.  Standings and photos will be updates throughout the evening so check back often to get the latest.

1710 - prelim finish race 8 Top 5 Robertson, Dieball, Barney, Fisher, Cayard. Very tight again after that.

1658 - Dieball at the leeward mark leading the pack.

1654 - This will be the last race of the day. The throw out will kick in after this race.

1653 - Windward rounding top 5; Dieball, Robertson, Fisher, Vargas, Barney.

1641 - Start of race 8. Boats are lined up with a minute to go. Clean start.

1624 - Prelim race 7 results are; Terhune, Diaz, Paine, Martin, Fisher, Linton. Race 8 upcoming in a few minutes. Stay tuned.

1621 - Terhune has a large lead going into the leeward mark.

1613 - Windward rounding top 5; Terhune, Dieball, Martin, Diaz, Cayard

1604 - Lining up for the start of race 7. 3 boats over early.

1600 - Prelim finish of Race 6; Fisher, Paine, Terhune, Raab, Martin.  Very close racing at the finish with many overlaps.

1557 - General Recall, lots of boats over the line. Line'em up again for another try.

1555 - Race 7 starting sequence is underway.  Preliminary results from race 6 will be posted as soon as they arrive.

1553 - Darrell Peck is no stranger to the leaders position after taking a first in the Finn division at the 2009 Olympic Classes Regatta at the Alamitos Bay Yacht club last March.

1532 - Windward leg top 5; Fisher, Paine, Peck, Martin, Terhune. Wind is filled in nicely across the course at about 7.

1523 - Start of race 6 Linton and Spira were over early.

1506 - Preliminary Finishes of race 5; Paine, Terhune, Ingram, Fisher, Martin

1503 - Leeward Mark rounding Top 5; Paine, Terhune, Rumbaugh, Ingram, Fisher,

1453 - Windward mark top 6; Rumbaugh, Paine, Terhune, Martin, Ingram, Fisher

1439 - Going into the start sequence of race 5

1435 - We are currently planning for a start time of race 5 at 1445L

1430 - Boats are leaving the harbor with winds at about 5kts from 350.

1430 - Welcome back race fans.  We are geared up for a truly exciting second half of racing for the day.

1255 - We are headed in for a lunch break. More action to come in an hour or so.

1252 - Preliminary results of race- top 5; Cayard, Paine, Terhune, Robertson, Fisher

1246 - Leeward Rounding. Top 5; Terhune, Cayard, Paine, Martin, Robertson

1238 - Windward mark top 5 Cayard, Terhune, Peck, Martin, Robertson. Boats are very, very tight.

1234 - Halfway up the beat the right side looks favored.

1226 - Start of Race 4. Winds are the same as race 3 still about 5 from the north. The temp's are the same upper 40's. Martin and Linton had great starts right on time at full speed.

1212 - Ingram wins Race 3 followed by Robertson, Terhune, Dickson, Diaz. One more race is planned before a lunch break.

1207 - Leeward Rounding top 5; Ingram, Robertson, Terhune, Diaz, Linton. Boats are very tight going 3 wide around the gates after the top 5

1206 - Halfway down the run, the fleet is pretty well spread out.

1205 - Allen Terhune is the 2009 Lightnings World runner up coming in second with crew Keri Terhune and Dave Perkowski

1156 - Top 5 at the windward mark; Ingram, Robertson, Dickson, Terhune, Williford. Christopher Williford is the Opti Champ and is 14 yrs old. Keep it up Christopher!

1150 - Race 3 under way with a clean start. Winds have lighted up to 5.

1141 - Race 3 upcoming after completion of boat rotation. Competitors rotate boats every race.

1141 - Race 2 preliminary finishes top 5. Fisher, Martin, Varges, Ingram , Robertson. Fisher won by a nose. Large grouping after that. Very close racing.

1133 - Leeward Rounding top 5: Fisher, Martin Vargas, Robertson, Dieball. Fleet split at the gate is pretty even.

1129 - Mateo Vargas was one of 5 young sailor named this year to the US Sailing Team – U18: Laser Radial (boys)

1124 - Mike Martin is coming off a great win at the 505 Worlds in San Francisco last August.

1119 - Windward rounding top 5 Martin, Fisher , Vargas, White, Robertson

1109 - Race 2 under way. Maybe a little more pressure on the left side. Large group started at the boat.

1104 - Races 2 sequence underway.

1055 - Race 1 finish preliminary; Fisher, Linton, Martin, Diaz, Robertson

1050 - Leeward rounding top 5; Fisher, Linton, Martin, Terhune Ingram.

1048 - Greg Fisher is no surprise either as this brother Matt just won the worlds with the this same crew just a few short weeks ago.

1046 - Halfway down the run Fisher now is first, Linton in second.

1045 - No surprise to see Jeff Linton and crew rounding the first mark with the lead group.  Jeff won the 2007 Worlds Championship in Athens Greece.

1040 - 1st mark rounding of top 5; Linton, Fisher, Martin, Diaz, Ingram

1035 - With a successful start of race 1 the 2009 US Sailing Championship of Champions is underway and the boats are heading for the first mark

1025 - 3rd attempt is successful. Cayard & Martin are over early.

1018 -  2nd general recall on race 1. Again to much aggressiveness at the start. Big pin favor for both recalls.
1012 - Several boats over early, general recall flag has been raised.

1005 - About to begin the sequence for race 1. Wind out of the north at about 5-8. Temp is 47 degrees.

1000 - The first start has been postponed due to wind.  All boats are on the water and waiting.

0930 - Most of the boats have left the harbor and we are anticipating an on time start for race 1

0905 - Boats are going in and the harbor is beginning to look like there might be some racing this morning.

0900 - Good morning race fans!  Weather on the course is about like yesterday.  Great weather if you happen to be a duck but for those of us that relish in harnessing the wind, conditions are less than magnificent.

1223 - Also in the fleet this year is Paul Cayard, all ready a champion of champions in the sport. Many other top names are with us this year and will be mentioned during the next several days.

0925 - In this event, they will be crewing for Greg Fisher and are sure to finish near the front.

0920 - Of those notable competitors racing in this event include CSA's own Dan and Tobi Moriarty who are coming off a first place finish at the 2009 Lightning Worlds Championship crewing for Matt Fisher at the Mallet Bay Boating Club in Colchester, Vermont.

0855 - Racing begins tomorrow Oct 15 with a harbor warning at 0930 and first start at 1000.

8:50 - Today's schedule is limited to practices beginning at 1300.

8:35 - If you like cold, drizzly, overcast mornings, it is truly a beautiful day.  Winds are forecast to be around 9 knots from the northeast at 040 moving to 050 later in the day and slowing slightly.
